Once again the Upper Ohio Valley Fire & Rescue School has come and gone and was another great success. The UOVFRS committee would like to thank all of the students, instructors, staff, and vendors for attending the 13th Annual 2011 Rescue School. Although this year's attendance was down from recent years, the school did draw approximately 330 students, with the total participants, including staff, instructors and vendors, being 400 attendee's.
The Upper Ohio Valley Fire & Rescue School would like to recognize a few organizations and individuals that helped with the 2011 UOVFRS and if anybody was overlooked, please accept our apologies for it was not intentional.
We would like to thank the Franklin Community VFD for all their hard work operating the concession stand and serving some of the best food around. We would also like to thank the Wellsburg VFD for the another great Hospitality Night. If you missed it, we recommend you don't next year! The UOVFRS Staff would like to thank Stan Traylor and RESA 6 for all their support and assistance.
We would like to thank the following fire departments for the use of there apparatus, equipment and personnel for the weekend. If it was not for their assistance the school would not be possible:
Beech Bottom VFD
Bethany VFD
City of Weirton FD
ESI Equipment Inc
Follansbee VFD
Hanover Twp VFD, PA
Hooverson Heights FD
Wellsburg VFD
And last but not least I would like to personally thank Chief Larry Palmer, Franklin Community VFD, Captain Tom Diserio, Wellsburg VFD and his wife Danielle. Larry was invaluable in overcoming a last minute change in plans for the Advanced Farm Extrication. Tom and Danielle for their assistance and going the extra mile for the school this year to help us obtain the structures for the Basic Fire, The DC Way, and for RIT. Their assistance made my job considerably easier. Thank you Larry, Tommy and Danielle.
In closing, the UOVFRS has always and will always strive to provide the most realistic and quality training available and we are always looking for ways to improve. If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to e-mail us at UOVFRS@verizon.net or post them on the guest book. Please periodically check the web site throughout the year for updates. Thanks again to everybody that attended and we hope to see you again next year, at the 14th Annual Upper Ohio Valley Fire & Rescue School, tentatively scheduled for March 24 and 25, 2012.
